Pastor Brian Steller

Brian Steller has spent most of his life in beautiful Southern Oregon where he loves the people, the culture and climate of the Rogue Valley. At an early age he felt a desire to follow both his father's and grandfather's footsteps to pursue full-time ministry. But, as life's twists...and turns presented themselves, Brian took a strong interest in the fabrication of iron, stainless steel, and sheet metal during his early high school years. This led to several occupational opportunities where he would spend the next five years within those fields.  But, deep down inside Brian knew God had other plans for his life.

In 1989, Brian married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly, who also felt a calling to full-time ministry.  One day, Brian was  very frustrated about his job. So, he decided to pay his mother a visit on the way home from work. As Brian began to vocalize frustrations about his life and call, his mother said to him "Son, why don't you go to bible school and pursue the calling you feel toward ministry."  In that moment, Brian felt something deep inside of him say, "Yes, that's it. That's what I need to do."  That evening he and his newlywed bride discussed the possibilities of selling everything they had to pursue higher education and the calling both of them felt.

In 1994, Brian graduated from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministries, received his credentials from the Assemblies of God as a Licensed Minister, and accepted a job as Children's Pastor in Redmond, Washington - all within a two week period.

After graduation, Brian and Kimberly worked with Pastor Raymond Jennings at Redmond Assembly of God for the next two years. Brian left Redmond, Washington in 1996 to become an Associate Pastor for his father, Larry Steller, at Mount Hood Christian Center in Gresham, Oregon. Brian's passion for community outreach helped his father grow the church to record levels.  After his father's resignation as Lead Pastor, Brian accepted a Senior Associate role with Pastor Rick McGregor in 1998 at Westgate Assembly of God in Salem, Oregon.  Once again, Brian's ministry experienced great growth as he assisted the pastoral staff in leading the church to record levels.

Five years later, in 2002, Brian returned to his childhood community in Jacksonville, Oregon to become the Lead Pastor of Calvary Church where his father had pastored for seventeen years. Unfortunately, prior to Brian and Kimberly's arrival, the church had declined from over 400 in weekly attendance to just a handful of people. But, Brian and Kimberly were determined to restore the church's reputation within the community and help it become a relevant church once again. With the help of many committed couples and families, Calvary Church has been revitalized to great health and is working toward accomplishing its mission.  Brian describes Calvary Church as being "a young church in an old building who is striving to become culturally relevant in all it does."

In July 2020 the church changed its name to Relevant Church as part of a “reset” to help us communicate to people and the community that we believe Jesus and The Church are still relevant for today’s culture.

Brian and Kimberly are passionate about helping people implement their full potential in Christ through intentional life-change. Both of them are certified life-coaches through Ministry Coaching International and serve on the coaching team of the Oregon Ministry Network. They believe and teach that the practical application of God's Word coupled with intentional daily action steps lead to the fulfillment of God's plan for people's lives. They demonstrate this to the people they serve through the depth of personal relationship.
